Is My Car Suitable for a Stage 1 Remap?

Many cars are suitable for Stage 1 tuning, but health, mileage, service history and existing faults should be checked first.

Quick answer

Many cars are suitable for Stage 1 tuning, but health, mileage, service history and existing faults should be checked first.

Stage 1 is usually designed for an otherwise standard car, but that does not mean every car should be mapped immediately. The car should be assessed first so weak components, warning lights or maintenance issues are not masked by tuning.

  • Stage 1 normally suits standard hardware, but condition matters.
  • Clutch slip, boost leaks, old service items or warning lights should be checked first.
  • Diesel cars should be assessed for DPF, EGR and boost-related issues before tuning.
  • Tell the workshop if you want economy, response, towing torque or performance.
  • WhatsApp your registration for advice on what is realistic for your exact vehicle.
